C.R. Odette – Yamilet CS
Great tape from Sam Flowers of Detroit - very clever and minimal use of crackling electronics, rhythm/samples, and a few effects. Sam’s sound holds true to the whole Detroit DIY scene, but remains its own thing. I'd argue that the narrative of Yamilet is a product of a body occupying space editing process. The transitions in the recording sound evocative of how one person might adjust their behavior due to environmental changes, all while still remaining that same-ish person. You never step in the same river twice I guess. There’s mellotron on one side and it gets pretty musical at times but in that urban decay type of way of course. Beautiful cassette! Unique and very recommended!
